MEET The EJF BOARD

No family Fights
childhood cancer Alone

The Ethan Jostad Foundation for Childhood Cancer was founded in memory of Kim and Chris Jostad's son Ethan, who passed away in August of 2011 from Stage IV Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Our Board of Directors volunteer 100% of their time and do not draw any salary. We are made up of a group of dedicated parents, friends, and Survivors who are determined to make a difference in the lives of children and families who face this horrible disease every day.

KIMBERLY JOSTAD
CO-FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

I am the Co-Founder and President of the Ethan Jostad Foundation for Childhood Cancer, but most importantly I am forever Ethan's mother. Ethan will always be at the forefront of our minds and the driving force behind every decision we make at EJF. His legacy lives on and inspires us to help the children and families who continue to deal with this horrible disease and to provide comfort to those whose children have been taken by childhood cancer. Our family knows how difficult it is to fight this disease and the devastating impact it has on not only the child who is diagnosed, but also on the entire family. Our goal at EJF is to continue Ethan's fight by raising awareness about childhood cancer, funding new research that will help children today and in the future, and to ease the burden of dealing with this disease by providing toy packages to kids and financial assistance to families. With your support we can make a difference in the lives of these children and their families. In addition to leading the foundation, I am an Insurance Broker for Focus1 and Oath Insurance. I enjoy camping, snowboarding, my two Boston Terriers and family activities with my husband Chris, son Tanner, and daughter Ella.

CHRIS JOSTAD
CO-FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

I am Co-Founder and President of the Ethan Jostad Foundation for Childhood Cancer. My inspiration is my forever 9 year-old son Ethan in addition to all the other children who are currently battling cancer or have lost their fight to this terrible disease. I know first-hand how devastating a diagnosis of cancer is to families. The only thing that truly matters is the health of their child. With your support we are able to help these families by funding ground breaking research, providing financial assistance, sending out toy packages, and raising much needed awareness. I was Ethan’s primary caretaker during his two year battle against cancer. Taking care of Ethan inspired me to go back to school to study nursing and work in healthcare. I was a nurse for several years and now the Director of Risk Management at Asante Rogue Regional Hospital. Ethan was my inspiration to change careers and help others when they need it most like many did for our family. In addition to helping with the foundation, I enjoy working out, playing with our two Boston Terriers, camping, and snowboarding with my wife Kim, son Tanner, and daughter Ella.

ELIZABETH COPE
TREASURER

As his Aunt, Ethan will forever have a special place in my heart. He touched our family with 9 amazing years. I feel privileged to be a part of the Ethan Jostad Foundation and serve as the organization’s treasurer. In this world all we can do when faced with tragedy, is give back and help others in need. I live in Medford with my three children Kyle, Sydney and Peyton, and husband Kevin. I’m the owner of Sec Compliance Solutions and my passions are running, snowboarding, and spending time with my family. There are so many children out there fighting for their lives, and our organization is doing everything in our power to make a difference one child at a time.

EMILY JONES
SECRETARY

Two months before Ethan was diagnosed with cancer I was blessed to have Ethan and his family come into my life. Our families became very close and remained close throughout Ethan’s hard fought two year battle with cancer. I am the Foundation’s secretary, as well as a board member. I graduated from Southern Oregon State College with a bachelor’s degree in Social Science and worked for the City of Ashland for seven years as their Recreation Coordinator. Currently I am a stay at home mom of two boys that keep me extremely busy and fulfilled as a mother. My husband and I enjoy traveling and spending time with friends. I am honored to be a member of such an important Foundation. I look forward to the positive changes we can make in children’s lives that are battling childhood cancer.
