Meet Our Hero: Chloe Staten

CHLOE'S STORY

AS TOLD BY HER MOTHER RUTH

Chloe was diagnosed in August of 2008 with what was thought to be Stage 3 Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. At the time she had a tumor behind her left ear. Chloe also had several lymph nodes removed. It was later discovered her Rhabdomyosarcoma was Stage 1! Chloe's treatment lasted from August of 2008 thru January of 2009. The treatment protocol included weekly chemotherapy treatments, including a huge twenty-four hour treatment, every three weeks.  Her check ups were every three months, then every four months, then every six months. Chloe has been out of treatment for 6 1/2 years now! She has had 2 years of physical therapy to regain the use of her muscles in her legs and hands. Chloe has had heart scares and a compromised gallbladder, but she's a true warrior who now fights for others as well!

She is the 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Oregon Middle School winner for service. Chloe is also the 2014 Oregon State Children's Miracle Network Champion.
